According to Strongman, Sarkodie couldn’t shoot a single video for him largely due to limited resources available to the record label, SarkCess Music.
He suggested that investors may have been ideal for the record label before signing on more artistes.
Speaking on why none of the songs on his best all-time EP had music videos, Strongman explained that Sarkodie’s inability to get investors can’t be ignored when reminiscing the cause of the problem.
“The reason why I don’t blame Sark that much is because he is an artiste who signed Akwaboah and myself. And under Sarckcess, we didn’t have investors. It was Sark’s own money that was used to finance all the projects. At that time, he also had video projects he was undertaking … so after shooting music videos for Akwabah and himself, he might have already spent about 100,000. So, if I try to be considerate a bit, at the end of the day, my project suffers.
“But I can’t complain because I understand that the money is from his own pocket. So the only problem I feel we had at Sarkcess was that he was supposed to get an investor before signing us. Then every video will come. But as he didn’t get an investor at that time, his own money and he had to take care of himself, family plus he likes big outfits so that you pay him more…”
As a reminder, one of Ghana’s finest budding rappers Strongman Burner’s 2-years contract with Sarkcess Music Record label ended, and to our surprise, it was not renewed.
Why their contract was not renewed remained a mystery to almost every Ghanaian even those in the music industry knew nothing about it.
However, the headliner of the record, Sarkodie once disclosed why he had to part ways with the young rapper.
According to Sarkodie, he refused to renew the rapper’s contract because of social media and the fans.
He explained that Strongman reacts to everything on social media that concerns him, and it’s because his emotional stability to handle external pressure is very low. Sarkodie said this during an interview on Joy FM with George Quaye.
